WHY BUILD? WHY NOW?
(REALITY SETTING)
Once both parties agree on what the issues are that will have the greatest yield on the business, we establish why the project must be done now? What is the reward that is received by the organization upon the project's conclusion? Is it greater market share? Is it a major step down the path of Strategic victory against long-entrenched competitors? Is it gaining knowledge and mechanisms, by which asset or operational risks and liabilities are greatly mitigated or reduced? Is it establishing implementation standards or innovations that keep the company's projections on track for the remainder of the fiscal year? Is the project to provide confidence to the market or Investors about the commitment of the firm to deliver on what's customers, Board members, or the public feels is needed.
Finding the Why for the project gets at the heart of the value discussion for all parties, allowing trust and understanding to be reinforced.
